WASHINGTON, DC - In response to the New York Times report that the Biden Administration is considering reinstating family detention, Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02), who represents the third largest border district in the country, released the following statement:

“It is unacceptable that the Biden Administration is considering reinstating family detention to deter migrants who are fleeing dangerous situations. I urge the administration to work with border representatives on realistic and humane solutions to our border issues.”

Teresa Leger-Fernandez at the State Legislature at the New Mexico State Capitol in Santa Fe. In his speech, Vasquez focused on creating good-paying jobs, supporting local energy choices, prioritizing community safety, and promoting conservation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and U.S. Reps Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.), Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), and Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.) are welcoming a total of $485,000 in funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support public engagement strategies for 19 arts organizations across New Mexico.
