Vasquez Voted Today to Hold the Chinese Communist Party Accountable
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, March 13, 2024, U.S. RepresentativeGabe Vasquez (N.M.-02) voted to pass the bipartisan Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act to protect children, families and national security. Vasquez released the following statement on his vote:

“I remain committed to protecting our nation’s security, the well-being of New Mexican families and ensuring that China and Big Tech are held accountable. I also want to reassure TikTok users that this bill is not designed to deprive them of access to the platform, but to uphold their privacy, security and constitutional rights.
“This legislation is a testament to my dedication to preserving the fundamental values that define our democracy and protect the people of New Mexico.”
The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act aims to address national security concerns about foreign adversaries’ control of social media applications such as TikTok. The bill seeks to hold the Chinese Communist Party and Big Tech accountable to ensure the safety and well-being of its users by requiring companies to divest from foreign adversaries within 180 days.
