Monday, New Mexico’s congressional delegation announced $35 million in federal grants for healthcare, agriculture and renewable energy projects in rural communities in the state.

The delegation is made up of U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján and U.S. Representatives Teresa Leger Fernández, Melanie Stansbury and Gabe Vasquez. All are Democrats.

Participants voiced their concerns regarding health care costs and VA accessibility, suicide prevention and the need to protect veterans from predatory groups seeking to profit from veterans seeking assistance with federal agencies. Rep. Vasquez remains committed to advocating for the benefits veterans have earned and addressing their needs.

Immigrant rights advocates have been sounding the alarm for years and it’s clear some state lawmakers have had enough.
