U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) expressed his strong opposition to the proposed expansion of military flight operations over the Gila Wilderness, citing the harmful effects it would have on local communities, businesses and the environment. In a letter to Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall, Vasquez urged the Air Force to reconsider moving forward with plans to expand the Military Operations Area (MOA) in Southwest New Mexico.

The bill addresses the long-standing health care challenges faced by rural veterans in Otero and Eddy counties. It would reduce travel times for veterans in these counties while ensuring they are fully reimbursed for their travel expenses.

The bill provides teachers and staff at Tribally-controlled schools with the same federal retirement benefits as their counterparts at Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools.

U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez visited the Albuquerque Police Department's Real Time Crime Center to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety in Albuquerque and talk about Vasquez's efforts to secure federal funding for the center. During the visit, Vasquez met with Deputy Chief J.J. Griego to tour the facility and learn more about its role in improving officer response and crime prevention capabilities.
