President Joseph Biden approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Tribe to help combat the effects of the South Fork and Salt fires currently burning in Lincoln County, Otero County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation.
The President’s action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Tribe.

Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.), Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), and Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.) wrote to the Defense Health Agency to encourage improved medical support at Cannon Air Force Base (AFB), located near Clovis, New Mexico and review any barriers that limit medical services hiring or contracting.

Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico announced Wednesday the introduction of H.R. 8514, the Veteran Education Assistance Adjustment Act, a new bill aimed at increasing the yearly books and supply stipend, providing veterans with the necessary financial stability to focus on their studies and prepare for their future.
Vasquez presented the bill during the House Veteran Affairs (HVAC) Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity hearing on pending legislation.
