Appropriations Requests

Each year, Congress passes 12 Appropriations bills to fund federal agencies and keep critical programs running. A key part of this process is Community Project Funding (CPF), which allows members of Congress to request funding for local projects that meet strict federal requirements. My top priority is bringing federal dollars back to New Mexico to support high-impact investments that make life better for New Mexicans — like infrastructure, public safety, and economic development. During my time in Congress, I’ve been proud to work with communities throughout New Mexico to deliver $30.7 million in Community Project Funding for 30 projects across our district. You can find the list of CPF projects I secured funding for in FY2024 here and FY2026 here.

There are three types of appropriations requests members can submit to the House Appropriations Committee:

  • Community Project Funding (CPF) Requests: A request to direct funds to a specific state or local government, or an eligible non-profit recipient.
  • Programmatic Requests: A request for general support or funding for a program.
  • Language Requests: A request to add language to the bill or report to accompany the bill, which generally does not include dollar amounts.

My office is accepting FY27 programmatic and language appropriations requests, as well as Community Project Funding requests. We will have accurate submission deadlinesas soon as we receive guidance from the House Appropriations Committee.

  • To submit for Programmatic or Language requests, fill out this form.
  • To access the Community Project Funding application, fill out this form.
My team has prepared this FY26 resource guide on how to request Community Project Funding through the annual appropriations process. Our hope is that this guide will demystify the process and provide you with the best information available in a clear and concise format. We’re committed to creating a fair and equitable process that will meet the needs of our diverse communities.

Per the House Appropriation Committee, Members will once again be able to submit up to 15 projects to the Committee, and the eligibility criteria for projects will remain similar to the FY26 guidance. You can view the Committee guidelines here

If you have any questions about how to make a submission or whether your requests are eligible or not, please contact our office at Emily.Hartshorn@mail.house.gov with any questions.
