Vasquez Meets With Community Leaders to Discuss Economic Development and Support for Veterans

January 18, 2023

Albuquerque, NM. – Today, Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) met with community leaders across Albuquerque as part of his first district work period. Vasquez toured the Raymond G. Murphy Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center to underscore his commitment to supporting our veterans and service members. The VA System provides services to veterans and service members in the northern part of the district.

Next, Congressman Vasquez visited the South Valley Economic Development Center to discuss the programs, resources and economic opportunities the center provides to the South Valley community. Afterward, Congressman Vasquez met with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Albuquerque Economic Development Department and the Bernalillo County Economic Development Department. In the meeting, they discussed ways to bring more jobs to Albuquerque, the best ways to support businesses, and non-traditional job pathways.

Today’s meeting will be the first of many with local leaders in Albuquerque, as the West Side and South Valley are now a part of New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District. We’re focused on bringing more economic opportunities to our state and supporting organizations investing in their neighborhoods,” said Rep. Vasquez. “We also need to have conversations about how we can ensure our veterans and service members can access their health care. Getting quality care should be easy, economical, and accessible to those who need it.
