Vasquez Keeps Promise to Meet with Diverse Constituencies Across the District
ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – On Monday, March 20, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) wrapped up his latest visit to New Mexico’s second congressional district in Alamogordo, covering nearly 4,500 miles on the road in his first few months since serving in Congress. Meeting with constituents, local elected officials and local groups, Vasquez continues to make true his commitment to serving all communities across New Mexico’s vast second district.
“I’m here to listen, here to serve, and here to advocate for all of our communities, no matter how far away or how rural. That's why talking directly with constituents is one of the most important parts of this job,” said Vasquez. “During this district work period, I visited rural manufacturing facilities, Holloman Air Base, rural healthcare clinics and met individually with constituents in Alamogordo. I’m looking forward to taking the feedback I heard back to Washington to continue fighting for the livelihood of our communities.”
Vasquez kicked off his district work period on Monday, March 13, with a visit to Socorro Mental Health clinic to discuss the shortage of healthcare workers and rural healthcare disparities.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), Vasquez’s visit to Holloman Air Force Base was his first opportunity to meet with base leadership and learn about the ways he can support the servicemembers and their families on the committee.
Vasquez toured two manufacturing facilities in Belen and Las Cruces. His conversations with representatives from Airnov and Big Tuna Pipe emphasized his commitment to growing New Mexico’s manufacturing industry, expanding manufacturing jobs, and strengthening local economies.
While in the district, Vasquez also hosted meetings with several community leaders to discuss local priorities in Otero County, Las Cruces and the Pueblo of Isleta.
Organizing a Coffee with your Congressman event, Vasquez expanded his conversations beyond community leaders to listen directly to constituents in Alamogordo.
