Rep. Vasquez Statement on the Passage of the Bipartisan Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (N.M.-02) released the following statement following the passage of the Continuing Resolution. 

“The fact is a government shutdown would be detrimental for New Mexicans. In every decision I make, I put New Mexico first and today’s vote protects the livelihoods of New Mexicans. I remain committed to coming to the table to work with my colleagues across the aisle. This Continuing Resolution, although frustrating and flawed, is the only option to support the people of the second district. Passing this bill will ensure critical resources are available for veterans, working families and seniors while also ensuring we have national defense and public safety resources.

However, this compromise does not provide much-needed funding to support the good people of Ukraine. Our colleagues in the Senate have shown bipartisan support for standing up to the authoritarian dictatorship in Russia and protecting the innocent people of Ukraine. I remain committed to protecting this key Democratic, sovereign nation.”
