Rep. Vasquez Statement on His Vote of Support for Iran War Powers Resolution
Congressman calls on the Administration to end costly war abroad and refocus on American issues at home
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On March 5, 2026, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) released the following statement on his vote of support for the Iran War Powers Resolution:
“This Administration took unilateral military action in Iran without the authorization of Congress, without providing a rational explanation to the American people, and without stating clear strategic goals or an exit plan. This type of reckless behavior is how America enters endless ‘forever wars’ that this Administration vowed to never start.”
“When the Administration puts our troops in harm’s way, asks Americans to foot the bill for a multi-billion dollar war, and fails to lower costs in our own country, we deserve answers, not extreme MAGA talking points. The American people deserve to have clarity and understand this Administration’s strategy—if there is one at all—and how it serves our interests.”
“That’s why I voted in support of the War Powers Resolution and urged my colleagues to do the same. This moment demands courageous and decisive action, putting country over party, and our full and serious attention.”
