Rep. Vasquez Celebrates Crossing $6 million Returned to New Mexicans at New Albuquerque Office Opening
Rep. Vasquez’s office has now returned more than $6 million in federal benefits and assistance to New Mexicans that they were owed

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On July 28, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) celebrated opening a new constituent service and field office in Albuquerque alongside the milestone of surpassing $6 million returned to constituents through constituent services. Since being sworn in in 2023, Vasquez’s offices in Albuquerque and Las Cruces have helped over 2,300 constituents solve issues with and collect payments they were owed by the federal government. These successful cases have included navigating red tape and delays with VA benefits, Social Security payments, tax returns, RECA claims, and more. “I’m thrilled to get the doors open on our new Albuquerque office so that my team and I can keep delivering results for New Mexican families,” said Vasquez. “I’m also thrilled to announce that since I've been in Congress, I’ve returned over $6 million from the federal government to my constituents that they were owed. New Mexicans deserve an accessible, accountable government that works for them – and I’ll continue to fight slow bureaucracy and cut red tape so that they can get the money they deserve.”
During the event, three constituents shared how the Congressman’s office helped them resolve long-delayed issues with federal agencies:
- Paul, an Air Force veteran whose nearly $10,000 in delayed TRICARE medical claims were resolved with assistance from Rep. Vasquez's office.
- Alfonso, a Belen constituent whose spouse's long-delayed CHAMPVA health coverage was approved after intervention from Rep. Vasquez's office.
- Mindi, an Albuquerque constituent who received critical Social Security records needed to complete a RECA compensation claim with help from Rep. Vasquez's office. Rep. Vasquez’s office has delivered more than $300,000 in RECA claims.

Vasquez’s office also frequently holds Mobile Office Hours to assist constituents in rural communities and cities throughout New Mexico – from Belen, to Anthony, to Deming, you can find the office available to help.
