Rep. Gabe Vasquez Statement on the Partisan Funding Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) shared the following statement in response to House Republicans’ partisan funding bill.
“My constituents didn’t vote for Elon Musk, and they didn’t vote for me to hand over the reins to their healthcare, Social Security benefits, and funding for veterans to the richest man in the world. While I strive to work with Republicans on all issues that impact our district and our nation, this funding bill allows Elon Musk to continue shutting down federal facilities, fire federal workers, decimate the VA, and take food off the tables from hard-working New Mexicans.
“We’re already struggling, and we deserve responsible, predictable, and reasonable decisions from our federal government – instead, this bill paves a road for billionaires and leaves the working class in the dust. I oppose this bill and any measures that disrespect hard-working New Mexicans across my district.”
