Rep. Gabe Vasquez Discusses Lowering Costs, Bringing Jobs during Community Conversation in Chaparral
CHAPARRAL, N.M. — On Tuesday, August 20, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) hosted a community discussion to hear from constituents about key issues impacting the region, including the economy, jobs, infrastructure and public safety. The event brought together community leaders and constituents for a conversation about the challenges and opportunities facing Chaparral and border communities.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again–I’m committed to ensuring New Mexico isn’t left behind and that includes our colonias and border towns,” said Vasquez. “Chaparral deserves real investments in jobs and economic opportunities. That’s why I’m working hard to lower costs, create good-paying jobs and protect programs that our families rely on. As your Congressman, I will continue to fight every day to ensure that southern New Mexico gets the attention and resources it needs to thrive.”
The community forum focused on lowering costs for working families, creating more jobs and protecting essential programs like Social Security. The event drew local leaders and residents eager to hear about Vasquez’s plans to continue advocating for southern New Mexico in Congress. Attendees discussed challenges related to infrastructure, access to healthcare and job creation in rural communities, with Vasquez vowing to bring solutions back to the district.
Last year, Vasquez introduced the Economic Opportunity for Border Communities Act to require the Department of Commerce to develop a national strategy to increase the number of jobs in key industries such as trade, manufacturing, transportation and agriculture in border communities.
