ICYMI: Rep. Gabe Vasquez Calls Out “Complete Chaos” of Administration’s Policies During CBS Interview
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On January 28, 2024, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) joined CBS America Decides to call out the administration’s immigration policies that are hurting American citizens, including those in New Mexico’s Tribes, causing fear and confusion. He also discussed the chaos of the federal freeze and impact on children and seniors in the district.
“What I’m seeing from this scatter shot approach from this administration is that they’re more interested in this reality TV game of mass deportation, rather than actually coming through with a strategic plan to root out some of the criminals that are on our streets,” said Vasquez during the interview.

When asked about President Trump’s order to freeze all federal funding, Vasquez emphasized that it is “complete chaos.” Vasquez’s office continues to receive calls from seniors worried about their benefits, farmers worried about keeping their businesses running and “questions from parents about their ability to feed their kids, or even if their after-school programs are still going to be in operation. This has caused nothing but chaos.”
Vasquez believes that no one should have to wonder if they can feed their kids, keep a roof over their head or afford health care. The President is playing with real people’s lives, and Vasquez will fight to ensure his constituents are not left stranded by an administration that does not understand New Mexico.
