For the First Time in Years, Vasquez Opens Community Project Funding Requests for New Mexico’s Second District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, March 3, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) began accepting requests for Community Project Funding (CPF) for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24). Each year, Congress is responsible for passing Appropriations legislation to fund federal agencies. Rep. Vasquez will work to prioritize federal funding for the agencies and programs that serve New Mexico.
“Our budget is a statement of our values. In the last two years, there were no CPF requests accepted by the former Congresswoman in New Mexico’s second congressional district, which is simply unacceptable. That’s why I’m especially proud to work with community partners to bring home much-needed federal investments in FY24,” said Rep. Vasquez. “I’m excited about supporting local projects that will bring critical benefits to our region. I’m in office to serve the district, and that means assisting them in getting the funding they need. That’s why I’m looking forward to hearing directly from my constituents about what our federal budget should prioritize.”
Beginning in Fiscal Year 2021, the House Appropriations Committee began accepting Community Project Funding requests to directly appropriate federal funding to specific projects in local communities that fit certain criteria. Members may request funding for specific projects in their communities, so long as the projects have a federal nexus and meet other requirements established by federal law, House Rules and the Committee to ensure only high-quality projects are requested and funded. All requests must be made through vasquez.house.gov. The deadline for CPF requests is March 17, 2023 at 5:00 PM MT.
