Gabe Vasquez wins the 2nd Congressional District
November 6, 2024
Incumbent Democrat Gabe Vasquez will retain his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Unofficial results have Vasquez keeping his position in a four point lead over Yvette Harrell.
With 52% of the vote, Democratic candidate Gabe Vasquez appears to be hanging on for another two year term as the projected winner. This is the second time that Republican Yvette Herrell has lost the race to Vasquez. With the Vasquez win, he is the first Democrat to win the 2nd Congressional District since Harold Runnels back in the 1970s. This is also the first General Election since District 2 remapping in 2021.
